I don't have experience with Swedish Bitters specifically with
bleeding, but I've used them as an aperitif (which I can't spell
properly) to help digestion. What I've decided is that for me,
I prefer to use single-plant tinctures of bitter plants, like
dandelion root tincture.
Have you tried Shepherd's Purse tincture already? It's often
used for postpartum hemmorhage but Susun recommends it for menopausal
flooding, too. I'm looking in her "New menopausal years"
book and she also mentions lady's mantle tincture, chasteberries,
and astringent uterine tonics in general, like red raspberry.
Promoters of Swedish Bitters sometimes push it as a panacea,
which unsettles me. One thing they contain a lot of is aloe, which
when used internally is stimulating to the digestive tract, and
herbs that stimulate the digestive tract often have a similar
effect on the uterus. I tend to have a lot of digestive disturbances
during menstruation and menstrual disturbances when my GI tract
is really upset (like when I'm really stressed). I, personally,
wouldn't use Swedish Bitters as an ally for profuse bleeding,
but ymmv. Listen to yourself inside.
