When
I exert myself, even mild exertion, I start sweating profusely,
especially around my face and head. I'm talking about great rolling
streams of sweat dripping down my face, and it doesn't stop until
I rest in a cool place. I've been experiencing this for about
a year, but in the past few months it's getting much worse.
It's
hugely embarrasing and it's really becoming debilitating for me.
I go to the grocery store, or a bookstore, and just walking around
and shopping brings on waves of sweat. I thought it might be hot
flashes, but I'm not sure. I'm 47, my menstrual cycles are still
continuing and are regular, and I rarely get these bouts of sweating
when I'm doing quiet things at home. I work as a freelancer and
spend a lot of time in my apartment; I'm overweight and sedentary,
so I'm also worried this might be a circulatory/heart problem.
I
want to start exercising more, but the sweating has become overwhelming;
and for a few hours after these episodes, all my muscles ache
and I can hardly move (I'm okay by the next day). I stopped taking
St. John's wort a few months ago because I know it can make you
sun-sensitive (and maybe heat-sensitive?), but I haven't noticed
any effect. I drink herbal infusions every day, usually dandelion
and red clover, also nettle and oatstraw (and sometimes calendula
flowers).
I
would appreciate any feedback or suggestions, because I'm feeling
averse to even going out now because I'm so embarrassed by my
dripping, red face, and people always ask me, "is it raining
out?"
